A BLESSING FOR CABUYAO

Last Aptil 25, the ministry and Operation Blessing (OB) and the local churches in Barangay Marinig, Cabuyao, Laguna, conducted a medical mission. The mission was held at North Marinig Elementary School and was targeted primarily for residents of Southville Housing Project, who were relocated from beside the railroads of Makati. Some of these were clients of the ministry and former neighbors of OB. 458 and 119 consulted and were treated for medical and dental respectively. 12 availed of optical treatment. 53 received haircuts. 657 children attended the children’s program. Bread was distributed to 300 kids and 457 toys were given away. A total of 511 received the Lord that day. Follow-up will be done by the local churches. The event also became an avenue to get to know local pastors and churches in the area, notably Touch Life Christian Center International (TLCCI) led by Ptr. Ding Baroso, who hosted the pre-mission seminar. The ministry went on a follow-up visit on May 3 together with a number of ladies from Word for the World Ladies Ministry. During this visit, our relocated ministry volunteer workers and clients were endorsed to TLCCI for shepherding. To date, there are about 10 who attend Sunday morning worship at TLCCI and about 30 who attend the Sunday afternoon service at Southville. They now also have a mid-week Bible study at Southville every Wednesday. Praise God!
POWER UP !

From May 14 to 27, the ministry conducted its 2006 Daily Vacation Bible School (DVBS) titled “Jesus Helps You Power Up!”. The “one anothers” in the Bible were taught to the kids: to love, accept, comfort, serve and forgive one another. For the first time this year, the HSK areas were clustered into San Antonio, Zapote, Guatemala, Paco, Las Pinas, Cuyab and Yague. Five DVBS teaching teams conducted daily sessions for the clustered areas in schools, fields and courts. A total of 531 kids aged 6-12 years and some teens attended this year’s DVBS. The ministry also assisted its Mindanao partners so they could attend the VBS training seminar and secure VBS teaching materials. This year’s VBS was made possible with the support of Operation Blessing.
TRAINING TALENTS
Also during the week of May 15, twenty-five youths attended a training workshop on modern dance and tambourine dance at the Word for the World Christian Fellowship.
FREE CLINICS
In partnership with Word for the World Christian Fellowship, a total of 155 boys were circumcised through sponsorships by members of the WWCF congregation on April 22 and May 13. The free circumcision clinic included complete set of medicines. There was also free dental clinic conducted last June 3 where 81 kids (including some adults) had their teeth pulled out.
SUMMER GAMES

Last April 29, two hundred kids from several areas converged on the Tejeros BLISS basketball court to engage each other’s strength, skills and teamwork at the “Palarong Pambatang Lansangan 2006”. The areas were clustered and the kids were divided into 6 teams. Games included basketball, foot races, relays and tug-o-war. The Green team, mostly from Guam area, emerged overall champs.
COOL TRAINING
The ministry was invited to conduct its training workshop, “Teaching that Changes Lives” in Baguio City from June 8-10. Twenty-four pastors and church workers from 7 churches completed the training. Attendees came from Baguio City, Benguet and Pangasinan. The workshop was held at the Baguio Youth Center and was hosted by the Lord Jesus Our Redeemer Church in Baguio City led by Ptr. Marlon Abordo.
DONATIONS & SUPPORT
The ministry launched its “Coins from You, a Meal for a Child” cocobank fundraiser at the Word Community Church in Pasig City last April 23. The ministry also received donations of biscuits, blankets and mosquito nets from Rayomar Outreach Foundation for the relocated and the elderly and old clothes from anonymous donors.
